July 1st , 2012 - International Sand Sculpture Festival 2012

International Sand Sculpture Festival 2012 will take place on the beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress from July 20 through the end of the summer.  There will ba a " cartoon-island" with Sponge Bob , Winnie the Pooh, Lion King and other cartoon characters made out of sand.

June 17th, 2012 - Obvodny canal

Obvodny canal is the most depressive place in St.Petersburg. In 1923 during construction works an ancient temple with the remains of human sacrifices was found on the banks of Obvodny canal. In the same year the canal became a place of suicide for 89 people. Since then during the first 3 years of each decade a huge number of suicides occur here.

June 7th, 2012 - New Holland Island

New Holland Island will be opened for visitors on June 16. Every weekend there will be  gastronomic  market and flea market with vintage things,  antiques and clothing made by young designers. The  island took its name after a number of canals and shipbuilding facilities that rendered its appearance similar to Amsterdam.
